Poetry Essay

     Poetry has the power to get into people's hearts and mess with their emotions. Poetry is a form of writing which helps humans connect with other humans. Katy Perry can express her emotions through her songs such as "Hot and Cold" and "Firework." Poetry shares and connects us with the emotions and experience we all have as humans with the tone , figurative language, poetic structure, shift, and theme found within the piece of writing.
     Katy Perry is well known for her great songs. One of her songs "Hot and Cold" expresses the theme of relationships that are indecisive like the tone. Other humans could connect to her story and have been through similar experiences as her as well emotions. Her use of justapositions such as "cause you're hot then you're cold" helps her and others relate to the same theme of a person changing.
     "Firework" is another master piece of Katy Perry's which allows her to connect with her fans. This song creates the theme of motivation and going above and beyond to become the person of one's dreams. "Let it shine... like the Fourth of July" is Katy's way of saying that one must give their best to become the best of the best. Her tone of greatness and theme of motivation easily helps her connect with her fans to tell them they can be whoever they want.
     The power of poetry is able to express one's emotions to connect with other human's emotions. The power of songs is able to connect the singer to the fans. In Katy Perry's case her songs "Hot and Cold" and "Firework" use specific themes, tones, and literary devices to be one with her fans.
